Missile frigate FFG-48 USS Vandegrift belonging to the Yokosuka U.S. base arrived in Zuiho pier, Yokohama bay in 1998, and furthermore she was opened to the public for goodwill. Since USS Vandegrift was the warship which can employ a nuclear missile, the protest demonstration by citizens' group was also performed. (The law of Japan is prohibiting the bringing of a nuclear weapon onto the country. )
