Exhibition Room A : History of Kure, and Life of the battleship Yamato
The history of Kure is a Japanese modernization history. It is displayed with a lot of pictures and exhibits in this room.
The Kure naval station was established in 1889, and Kure naval shipyard was established in 1903. Kure was the biggest naval port in the Orient before the war, and was the biggest shipbuilding city in the Orient after war.
And a lot of exhibits about battleship Yamato who was build in Kure are displayed in this room.
Warship models and Equipments
The name ships (first ships) of each class were built by Kure naval shipyard. A lot of hi-detailed models and equipments of the warships that were built in Kure are displayed in this booth.

Exhibits about shipbuilding the battleship Yamato
Most of the documents about shipbuilding of the battleship Yamato were destroyed for Japanese defeat because she was a top secret. Therefore, most of them do not exist. A few extant document of the Yamato are displayed in this booth. The following pictures are the parts.

Testamentary letters, left behind, and photos of battleship Yamato's crew are displayed in this booth.. I saw their photos. There were a lot of young people that age was my only half. That's a pitiful story...
The photography of a wills are prohibited because those are private articles.

The salvages from the sunken battleship Yamato are displayed in this booth. They are articles salvaged by bottom of the sea inquiry in 1999.
Exhibition Room B : Large-scale material exhibition room
Some Kamikaze (suicide attack) arms etc. are displayed in this room. The Zero fighter which was loaded with a bomb, "Kairyu" type Midget Submarines, "Kaiten" type human torpedoes, etc. They are too cruel and sad arms...

Other Exhibition Room
Exhibition Room D : To the future (Space battleship Yamato and Leiji Matsumoto World)
"Space battleship Yamato" and some works of Leiji Matsumoto who is the author are exhibited in this room. It is the Japanese animated cartoon made on the model of the battleship Yamato. It is the SF story that Yamato revive as space battleship to save the moribund earth by attack of an alien "Gamilus (Gamilon)" in 2199. "Space battleship Yamato" was made in 1974, and it was a record-breaking hit. Yamato got the Japanese people's heart in animation as well. This animated cartoon was broadcast also in some countries. The title of American TV version was "Star Blazers".

The author of "Space battleship Yamato" is Leiji Matsumoto who is the Japanese famous cartoonist. He made any other hit cartoons "Galaxy Express 999 (1977)", "Space Pirate Captain Harlock (1977)", and "Queen Emeraldas (1978)" etc. He is the honorary director of Yamato museum.
Yamato Hall : Special exhibition "The ships built in Kure"
This is a time-limited special exhibition "The ships who were born in Kure". Launchings of ships built in Kure were exhibited by many photos. And a lot of keel laying hammers and launching hatchets were exhibited there.
